Asylum

  • This was the first campaign DLC mission for Aliens: Colonial Marines. Many people talked about how much better the DLC was than the main game, but unfortunately, that ship had already sailed.

  • I am responsible for all the paper design, layout, and mission and combat scripting in the second half of the map.

  • I was the map lead on the project, working with an external designer.

  • My goal was to create a scarier version of the main game. I wanted to take your weapons away at the start and make you truly vulnerable. I wanted you to be able to hide in lockers and other locations from both the Aliens and Weyland-Yutani soldiers. However, the engine we had didn't fully support my vision, so we ended up with one canned animation of you hiding in a locker.

  • A year later, Creative Assembly shipped Aliens: Isolation, the original vision I had for this level.
